Delete Your Account

You can delete your ShelfAbsorbed account and everything tied to it at any time. Here is how, and exactly what it does.

If you still have the app

  1. Sign in and open Settings from the menu.
  2. Scroll to the Account section near the bottom.
  3. Choose Delete my account.
  4. Type your email address to confirm. This step exists because deleting cannot be undone.

If you no longer have the app

Write to support@shelfabsorbed.com from the email address on the account and ask for it to be deleted. There is no need to reinstall the app first. Requests are handled as quickly as possible, and always within 45 days.

What gets deleted

Your account, your name and email, your ratings and reading progress, your photos, and your membership of every club. If you host a club, that is dealt with as part of the same step, so nothing is left without an owner.

What is kept, and for how long

Messages you wrote stay in your club's history, with your name removed from them. The words belong to the conversation the club had; the attribution does not need to outlive your account.

The database also keeps a short rolling recovery window, the ordinary safeguard against a crash or a mistake, so a copy of deleted information can persist there for a few weeks before it ages out. It is not reachable from the app and is not used for anything else.
