Welcome back! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend, with lots of family time, rest and reading. I know I sure did!
Last week, I said I would revisit Book 1 from The Expanse Series: “Leviathan Wakes,” from authors James S.A. Corey. So here we are. I’ll preface this by saying that Wakes was not a book I would have normally chosen for myself. My husband is not an avid reader, but as he read this, I found myself feeling like I was interrupting him in the midst of something very important every time I spoke. I finally had to ask him what he was reading that was so good. My hubs is usually an easily distractable reader, so this was reason #1 that Wakes seemed like an interesting read to pick up. Little did I know, that it would be very hard to put down.
Reason #2 for reading this book: Leviathan Wakes reads like a blockbuster film. With great character development and an fast pace that keeps the reader interested for the whole story, it’s golden. The story centers on a crew of mish-mashed space cowboys that are on the hunt for who or what has killed the entire crew of their home ship. In their journey, we are acquainted with Miller, a cantankerous cop with a drinking problem who is on the search for Julie Mao, an elusive daughter to a millionaire. As the story unfolds, you feel attached to the characters and will definitely be on the edge of your seat as their stories begin to intertwine.
Reason #3: Did I mention that there’s also a killer space protomolecule sent from the farthest reaches of the galaxy to kill all civilization? Okay, well there’s that too. Now go pick it up, you won’t be disappointed.
If you just want a taste of the story, without the commitment of the book, turn on Sy Fy network and you can tune into The Expanse series there! It’s great!
Next up for review is “Finding Fraser,” from KC Dyer. This book is fantastic! Fans of Outlander will LOVE it! I read its entirety in nearly one sitting and enjoyed each and every page. Dyer has created a fun tale of adventure and finding oneself that is impossible to put down. With Outlander references throughout, this book did not disappoint!
Now, for those in the market for lovely gifts and fan-girl merch…check out Brassington Hollow’s Etsy shop! This shop has beautiful Harry Potter volume pillows, they’re gorgeous. I need one. I want one, or seven. Get one for yourself or your favorite Muggle! It’s sure to bring some magic into their life! Brassington also has pillows themed other than Harry Potter, but I couldn’t get past these because they’re so freaking awesome.
